Adam Ramey, the lead vocalist and co-founder of the rap-metal band Dropout Kings, has tragically died by suicide at the age of 31. His passing, confirmed by family and bandmates, comes just days before what would have been his 32nd birthday.
Ramey was widely recognized for his dynamic presence on stage and his unique ability to blend the raw energy of metal with the rhythm and lyricism of hip-hop. Since co-founding Dropout Kings in Phoenix, Arizona in 2016, he played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s sound and identity. The group released several successful projects, including Audiodope (2018), GlitchGang (2021), and Riot Music (2023), and built a passionate fan base around their genre-blending music.
In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram, the band expressed their grief and paid tribute to Ramey’s memory:
“Adam wasn’t just our frontman—he was our brother, our inspiration, and our driving force. His passion, energy, and love for music touched countless lives. His spirit will forever be a part of Dropout Kings.”
Family members revealed that Ramey had long battled addiction and mental health challenges. His death underscores the continuing struggle many in the entertainment industry face behind the scenes, even while achieving public success. A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to support his wife, Jamie, and their young son, Jude, and to assist with funeral expenses.
