Jamie Foxx has been working hard to build size and strength ahead of portraying the fighter Mike Tyson in an upcoming movie—and now he’s starting to share the results. In a shirtless photo posted to his Instagram Story, the 53-year-old actor showed off his muscular physique and proved that he is definitely getting jacked enough to convincingly play the heavyweight champion.

Last year, Foxx remarked that”transforming the body” is an important aspect of preparing for the movie, and went into some detail on the training regime he has adopted in order to pack on muscle. He told Catching Up host Mark Birnbaum that he works out every second day, performing a routine of 60 pullups, 60 dips, and 100 pushups.

However, he joked that he is still struggling to grow his calves, and that”we might have to get some prosthetics for that.” There’s no leg on show in the photo Foxx shared this week, so it may be that the final stage of his pre-production training will focus on some intensive calf-training.

a person walking with a dog: jamie foxxThe biopic is something of a passion project for Foxx, and has been a long time in the making; he was first confirmed to have been cast in the role of Tyson back in 2017, with Martin Scorsese attached to direct. It’s been a long four years, and a lot has changed since then; Tyson has come out of retirement, for one, and has been training intensely to get into the best shape of his life, setting a high bar for the newly-shredded Foxx to meet.
