Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has shown his support for Remo Stars by gifting them a N10 million cash reward to celebrate their historic 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title victory.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray in Turkey, Osimhen personally called the team via video to congratulate them on their achievement before sending a generous donation. The N10 million was divided equally — N5 million for the players and N5 million for the coaching staff.
Remo Stars’ head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, confirmed the heartwarming donation in an interview with Punch Sports Extra.
This remarkable gesture comes after Remo Stars secured their first-ever NPFL title with a thrilling 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday. The crucial goal came from defender Olamilekan Adedayo in the 84th minute of the match at their home stadium in Ikenne.
The team reached 68 points, sealing the title with three games to spare and leaving second-place Rivers United trailing by 10 points.
Remo Stars’ victory also sets a major precedent as they become the first privately-owned club to win the NPFL since Julius Berger in 2000 and the first team from Southwest Nigeria to claim the trophy in 25 years.
