Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, led his colleagues to a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, March 12.
Obasa and the lawmakers arrived at the villa in two coaster buses around 3 p.m. The meeting is believed to be linked to the leadership crisis in the Lagos Assembly, which saw Mojisola Meranda resign as speaker
Meranda had been elected after a majority of lawmakers impeached Obasa on January 13, 2025. However, following the intervention of the Governing Advisory Council (GAC) and key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Obasa was reinstated on March 3, 2025.
