The United States on Friday announced a ban on imports of telecommunications services from half a dozen Chinese companies, including Huawei and ZTE, for being considered a “national security risk”.

These companies were included in 2021 in the list of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) where they were listed as an “unacceptable risk” to the national security of the U.S. country, along with other radio and video surveillance equipment, as collected by CNBC.

FCC Chairman Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement that these new rules “represent an important part” of the actions put in place to protect the American people from the “threat posed” by telecommunications equipment.

The Biden Administration thus continues with the policy imposed by Trump in technological matters with respect to the Chinese giant, by which Huawei was included in a ‘blacklist’ that left it out of Google’s operating system.

However, Washington had already banned Huawei from supplying systems to the US government and advised against the use of its equipment in the private sector, fearing that it could be a way for Beijing Intelligence to obtain information.
