The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather alert warning of a combination of dust haze and thunderstorms expected across parts of the country from Tuesday, lasting through Thursday.
In its latest weather forecast, NiMet stated that visibility may be significantly reduced in affected areas due to moderate to thick dust haze, especially in the northern and central regions. Meanwhile, southern parts of Nigeria should prepare for isolated thunderstorms and rainfall, which may disrupt outdoor activities and travel.
The agency emphasized the need for caution, urging residents to stay informed through official channels. Motorists, particularly in hazy regions, are advised to drive carefully and use headlights when necessary. Those in thunderstorm-prone zones are encouraged to avoid open fields, unsecured structures, and tall objects during stormy conditions.
NiMet reiterated that the forecast is part of its commitment to helping Nigerians make informed decisions in the face of changing weather patterns.
