In a remarkable gesture of generosity and commitment to faith-based education, renowned philanthropist Dr. (Mrs.) Seinye Lulu-Briggs has donated a state-of-the-art 5,000-seater auditorium to the Baptist College of Theology, located in Obinze, Imo State, Nigeria.

The commissioning ceremony, held over the weekend, was attended by religious leaders, academic scholars, government officials, and community members who gathered to celebrate the transformational gift. The ultra-modern auditorium, now one of the largest of its kind in any Nigerian theological institution, is expected to serve as a hub for academic, spiritual, and community activities.

In her address at the dedication, Dr. Lulu-Briggs emphasized her passion for advancing theological education and nurturing future Christian leaders. “This is not just a building,” she said. “It is a space of worship, learning, inspiration, and transformation. My prayer is that this auditorium will produce men and women who will boldly carry the gospel to all corners of the earth.”

The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji, praised Lulu-Briggs for her enduring support of the church and theological development. “This donation is more than brick and mortar,” he noted. “It’s a legacy of faith, sacrifice, and vision. Future generations of ministers will remember this day as a turning point in their academic and spiritual journey.”

Constructed to international standards, the auditorium features advanced sound systems, climate control, multi-purpose conference facilities, and modern safety measures. It is set to host major lectures, convocations, revivals, and leadership seminars—greatly enhancing the college’s capacity to impact the wider Christian community.

Dr. Lulu-Briggs, the Chairman of the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, has a long history of philanthropy in education, health, and community development. This latest donation is part of her broader commitment to uplifting institutions that mold values and character.

The Rector of the Baptist College of Theology, Rev. Dr. Victor Ogbonna, expressed profound gratitude, describing the gift as “a dream realized.” He affirmed the college’s dedication to using the facility to strengthen its mission of training pastors, missionaries, and church leaders with excellence.

As the ribbon was cut and prayers of thanksgiving filled the air, the new auditorium stood not just as a symbol of generosity—but as a beacon of hope, learning, and faith.
