Afrobeats superstar Davido has once again proven that he’s not one to back down from online criticism. The singer, known for his lavish lifestyle and consistent generosity, recently came under fire from social media trolls questioning the legitimacy of his private jet ownership. But in trademark Davido fashion, the artist fired back—firmly and unapologetically. Adding fuel to the buzz, reality TV personality and billionaire heir Kiddwaya joined the conversation, offering his support and adding his own perspective on the matter.
The Jet Ownership Drama
The online frenzy began when Davido posted updates from his luxurious travels, including images and videos onboard a private jet. While fans praised the artist’s success and style, critics took to X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, suggesting that the jet wasn’t actually his. Some accused the singer of posing with chartered aircrafts to maintain an image of wealth.
But Davido wasn’t having it. He took to his X account with a sharp response aimed at the doubters:
“Whether I own it or not, I’m still flying private while you tweet from your bed. Focus on your life.”
The tweet immediately went viral, attracting thousands of likes and sparking a wave of reactions from fans, industry colleagues, and celebrities.
Kiddwaya Steps In
Among the many voices chiming in was Terseer Waya, better known as Kiddwaya—a former Big Brother Naija housemate and son of Nigerian billionaire Terry Waya. Known for his luxurious lifestyle and strong social media presence, Kiddwaya backed Davido in a post that resonated with fans and critics alike.
“People need to understand that success doesn’t have to be proven to anyone. Davido is flying high, literally and figuratively. Let the man live!” Kiddwaya wrote on Instagram Stories, adding laughing emojis and a gif of a jet soaring through the sky.
He continued in a follow-up post, “You can’t hate your way to wealth. Clap for others until it’s your turn.”
Social Media Reactions
As expected, the drama fueled massive engagement online. Supporters of Davido praised him for staying true to himself and clapping back in a classy yet firm way.
“Davido is too rich to argue with broke energy,” one fan tweeted.
