The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially released the full list of winners in the just-concluded local government chairmanship elections held across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The newly elected council chairmen and councillors are expected to be sworn in later this month, ushering in a fresh chapter of grassroots governance in Africa’s most populous city. The announcement was made after a peaceful and generally well-attended poll exercise across various districts.
LASIEC praised the conduct of voters and political parties, noting that the exercise was largely hitch-free and in line with the electoral guidelines. The results reflect a broad spread of political influence across both metropolitan and semi-rural parts of Lagos.

Swearing-In Ceremony to Follow Shortly
The Lagos State Government has announced that preparations are already underway for the official swearing-in of the new local council leadership. The event is expected to take place later this month at the State House in Alausa, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expected to preside over the ceremony.
Political analysts say the new crop of chairmen will play a crucial role in delivering developmental projects, driving grassroots engagement, and aligning with the state’s THEMES Plus agenda on urban development and social welfare.
With their mandates officially confirmed, attention now shifts to how these elected leaders will translate campaign promises into real change at the community level.
