Saudi Arabia's Sleeping Prince Dies Post 20 Yrs Of Coma: What Happened To Him In 2005 Car Accident?

Saudi Arabia is mourning the passing of Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, fondly referred to as the ‘Sleeping Prince’, who died after spending nearly two decades in a coma. The heartbreaking announcement was made by members of the royal family, marking the end of a long, emotionally charged medical battle that had captivated the hearts of many in the Kingdom and beyond.

Prince Al-Waleed slipped into a coma in 2005 following a devastating traffic accident while studying at a military college. The accident left him with severe traumatic brain injuries, and despite multiple medical interventions both in Saudi Arabia and abroad, he never regained consciousness. His family, particularly his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, remained steadfast in their hope and faith for a miraculous recovery, choosing to keep him on life support all these years.

Over time, the prince became a symbol of patience, endurance, and unyielding parental devotion in Saudi society. His condition was closely followed by the public, with periodic videos shared online showing slight movements or eye reactions that gave glimpses of hope. Many Saudis came to view him as a testament to the power of belief and family loyalty.

Prince Khaled, who previously stated that “only God decides when life ends,” rejected calls to withdraw life support, firmly believing that his son would eventually recover. The royal family maintained a state-of-the-art medical setup within their residence to care for the prince around the clock.

Tributes have been pouring in from across the Arab world, with thousands offering condolences and prayers on social media. Prominent clerics, royals, and citizens have praised the family’s dedication and called the prince’s passing a moment of reflection on life, destiny, and the strength of faith.

Funeral arrangements are underway, with burial expected to take place in Riyadh in accordance with Islamic rites. As the nation bids farewell to the ‘Sleeping Prince’, his story leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering hope against all odds.
