In a deeply emotional and symbolic gesture, Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has presented her WAFCON medal to the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, Pastor Folashade Olukoya, during a special church service at the MFM Headquarters in Lagos.

Ajibade, known for her blazing speed on the field and strong faith off it, stunned worshippers on Sunday as she walked forward during the testimony session and personally handed over the medal to Pastor Olukoya and his wife, attributing her victory to the spiritual guidance, prayers, and teachings she has received from the MFM family over the years.

“This Victory Belongs to God”

Addressing the congregation, Ajibade expressed heartfelt gratitude to the ministry, calling Pastor Olukoya a “spiritual father whose prayers continue to speak” over her life and career. With emotion in her voice, she said:

“This medal is not just for me — it belongs to God, to MFM, and to everyone who has supported me through prayers and encouragement. I came to honour God’s servant, Daddy Olukoya and Mummy Olukoya, because this is home.”

Her words were met with thunderous applause from the congregation, many of whom stood in awe as she placed the medal in the hands of the church leaders — a rare and powerful moment that underscored the role of faith in sports and personal success.

A Proud Moment for the Church

Dr. Daniel Olukoya, visibly moved by the gesture, offered a special prayer for Ajibade, describing her as not just a sports icon, but “a shining light and a role model for young Christians around the world.”

“Rasheedat has brought honour to Nigeria and to the body of Christ,” Pastor Olukoya said. “She is proof that you can be spiritually grounded and still excel at the highest levels of your profession.”

His wife, Pastor Folashade Olukoya, also embraced Ajibade warmly and encouraged young believers to remain steadfast in faith and excellence, using Ajibade’s journey as a source of inspiration.

Faith, Football, and Fulfillment

Ajibade’s medal presentation comes shortly after the Super Falcons’ triumphant performance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the team battled through fierce competition to secure Nigeria’s 12th title in the tournament’s history. As team captain, Ajibade’s leadership and performance were instrumental in the squad’s success.

Off the pitch, however, the player has remained vocal about her Christian faith, often sharing Bible verses, worship music, and prayer points across her social media platforms. Her visit to MFM and the public tribute to her spiritual mentors only reinforce her identity as both a fierce competitor and a devout believer.

A Message Beyond the Medal

For many watching, Ajibade’s gesture was far more than symbolic. It sent a strong message about honour, humility, and the importance of acknowledging spiritual leadership in one’s journey.

“In a world where many chase fame and forget their roots, Rasheedat Ajibade has reminded us of the power of gratitude,” said one church member. “She didn’t forget where she came from — and that’s what makes her not just a champion, but a child of God.”
