Renowned Nigerian author and global literary icon, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has openly expressed her support for former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that his bid for Nigeria’s presidency is driven by a genuine love for the country.
Speaking in a recent interview, Chimamanda described Obi as a man of integrity, humility, and purpose whose motivations stem not from personal ambition or thirst for power, but from a deep-seated desire to see Nigeria work. According to her, Obi’s track record in both public service and private enterprise reflects a disciplined, prudent, and people-oriented leader—one she believes is well-suited to tackle Nigeria’s complex challenges.
“He truly cares about the nation,” she said. “Peter Obi’s commitment to Nigeria is not performative or opportunistic. It is rooted in his belief that Nigeria can and must be better for its people.”
Chimamanda emphasized that Obi represents a departure from the traditional political class often accused of corruption, complacency, and elitism. In her view, his style of leadership—centered around accountability, transparency, and fiscal responsibility—offers hope to millions of Nigerians disillusioned by decades of poor governance.
“For the first time in a long while,” she continued, “many young Nigerians are inspired to engage in the political process because they see someone who speaks their language—not just literally, but emotionally and ideologically. Obi reminds them that politics can still be decent, thoughtful, and people-driven.”
The acclaimed author, known for her fierce advocacy for democracy, justice, and equality, noted that Nigeria’s future depends on citizens making informed choices rooted in values, vision, and character. She urged Nigerians not to be swayed by money politics or ethnic sentiments, but to support leaders who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to national growth and unity.
Chimamanda’s endorsement adds to the growing list of public intellectuals, professionals, and youth groups rallying behind Peter Obi, whose campaign is largely centered around economic reform, education, job creation, and anti-corruption.
