Keyamo Drops Charges Against KWAM1, Appoints Him Cultural Ambassador

In a dramatic turn of events, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ordered the withdrawal of all charges against Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, and announced his appointment as a Cultural Ambassador for Nigeria.

The decision comes after weeks of speculation surrounding KWAM1’s legal troubles, which reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding during a high-profile event. According to Keyamo, the move to drop the charges followed a thorough review of the circumstances, which revealed that the matter did not warrant further legal action.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Keyamo praised KWAM1’s contributions to Nigeria’s cultural heritage, describing him as “a living icon whose music has not only entertained but also projected the country’s image across the globe.” He added that the ambassadorial role would see the Fuji maestro participate in cultural diplomacy efforts, representing Nigeria at international events and promoting the nation’s rich musical traditions.

“This is not just about ending a legal matter—it is about recognising the power of culture as a unifying force,” Keyamo said. “KWAM1 has been a torchbearer of Fuji music for decades, and it is only fitting that he continues to serve the country in a formal capacity.”

An emotional KWAM1 expressed gratitude for the gesture, promising to use the platform to further uplift Nigerian arts and culture. “I am humbled and honoured by this recognition. I will continue to carry the flag of Nigeria with pride, through my music and every opportunity to showcase our culture to the world,” he stated.

The announcement has been met with widespread reactions, with many in the entertainment industry hailing it as a win for cultural advocacy and a fresh reminder of the role artists play in national branding.
