U.S. First Lady Melania Trump is threatening to sue Hunter Biden for $1 billion after he publicly claimed she was introduced to Donald Trump by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — an allegation she says is false and defamatory.

The controversy began after Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, echoed claims first made by Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff. Wolff, in a late-July appearance on a Daily Beast podcast, suggested Epstein and Trump were linked through a “model agent” who allegedly introduced the then-businessman to Melania. The Daily Beast later published the claim in an article but has since issued an apology.

Despite the retraction, Hunter Biden repeated the allegation during an August 5 appearance on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, stating:

“They knew each other well, they spent an enormous amount of time together. According to his biographer, Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania — that’s how Melania and the president met.”

In a strongly worded letter dated August 6, Melania Trump’s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, demanded that Biden “immediately retract the false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements made about Mrs. Trump” and issue a public apology.

“Given your vast history of trading on the names of others, including your surname for personal benefit, it is obvious you made these statements to draw attention to yourself,” Brito wrote in the letter obtained by Fox News.

Brito warned that if Biden failed to comply by August 7, Melania would have “no alternative but to enforce her legal rights… including filing legal action for over $1 billion in damages.”

As of Wednesday night, the episode featuring Biden’s remarks remained on YouTube. Brito said the statements have been “widely disseminated” online, causing the First Lady “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.”

Melania’s East Wing spokesperson, Nick Clemens, confirmed that her legal team is pursuing “immediate retractions and apologies by those who spread malicious, defamatory falsehoods,” adding that the true story of how Melania met Donald Trump is detailed in her bestselling memoir Melania.

The dispute has further intensified political tensions, with the threat of one of the largest defamation claims ever pursued by a U.S. First Lady now looming over Hunter Biden.
