The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has refuted claims circulating on social media that Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, was declared wanted.

In a statement released via its official X handle on Thursday, the Force described the viral “wanted notice” as false, misleading, and unauthorised.

The poster, which bore the inscription “SPECIAL POLICE WANTED” alongside Ojo’s photograph, had been widely circulated on social media between Tuesday and Wednesday, sparking confusion and heated reactions among Nigerians.

However, the police clarified that the publication did not emanate from its offices.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to clarify that the recent Wanted Person Bulletin circulating online stating that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo is wanted by the Office of the IGP Monitoring Unit is NOT an official communication from the Force,” the statement read.

The NPF further urged members of the public to disregard the report, stressing that the actress is not on any wanted list. It also advised Nigerians to verify sensitive information through official channels before sharing to avoid the spread of misinformation.

This clarification comes amid growing concerns over the rise of fake documents and social media reports aimed at misleading the public.
