President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a lifetime salary package for retiring senior officers in the country’s paramilitary services.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who explained that the initiative is part of the president’s broader reform agenda to improve welfare, motivate officers, and strengthen national security.

Speaking during an official engagement, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the approval reflects the president’s commitment to acknowledging the sacrifices of service personnel who dedicate their lives to safeguarding the nation.

“The president has directed that senior officers, upon retirement, will be entitled to lifetime remuneration. This is to ensure they are not left vulnerable after years of dedicated service to the nation,” the minister stated.

The development has been welcomed by stakeholders, who believe it will boost morale among officers and encourage younger personnel to aspire toward higher ranks.

Security analysts also noted that the policy could help reduce corruption and absenteeism within the services, as officers would be assured of a stable future after retirement.
