Businessman Isaac Fayose has accused activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, of launching repeated verbal attacks against former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as a calculated move to win the attention and favour of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a video posted on Instagram, Fayose alleged that Adeyanju is seeking relevance within the ruling government but lacks the courage to declare his intentions openly. Instead, he said, Adeyanju has turned Obi and his supporters — known as the Obidient movement — into his political “punching bag.”

“This is the same strategy Reno Omokri used to find his way into the APC camp,” Fayose claimed.

Adeyanju’s Criticism of Obi

Adeyanju has in recent weeks intensified his criticism of Peter Obi, dismissing him as unfit to ever lead Nigeria. He described Obi as a “political fraud,” a “prostitute” jumping between parties, and even accused him of being a “religious bigot.”

These remarks have triggered outrage among Obi’s supporters, many of whom see the attacks as part of a broader attempt to discredit the former Anambra governor.

Legal Battle Brewing

In response to Adeyanju’s remarks, Peter Obi, through his legal team, has issued a formal letter demanding a public apology. The letter warned that failure to retract the statements could result in a lawsuit for defamation.

Adeyanju, however, has stood his ground, daring Obi to take him to court. He declared that he is ready to defend his claims before a judge.

The clash adds another layer to Nigeria’s heated political landscape, as figures like Fayose argue that Adeyanju’s motives are less about ideology and more about positioning himself for influence under Tinubu’s leadership.
