Music icon Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to just over four years in federal prison following his conviction on prostitution-related charges, bringing a dramatic end to a closely watched legal battle.

On Friday, Judge Arun Subramanian delivered a 50-month prison term after an emotional day of testimony and arguments. Federal prosecutors had pressed for an 11-year sentence, arguing that Combs’ conduct was systematic and exploitative. The judge, however, opted for a shorter term, citing mitigating factors but stressing that accountability was still necessary.

The Grammy-winning producer and entrepreneur, known for his decades of influence on hip-hop and business, has already spent more than a year in custody since his arrest in September 2024. That time will be credited toward his sentence. He was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and will serve five years of supervised release after his prison term.

During the sentencing hearing, Combs apologized to his victims and supporters, calling his actions “unacceptable” and saying he would “use this time to reflect and rebuild.” The court also heard powerful victim impact statements from several women, which the judge described as “courageous” and “instrumental” in reaching the verdict.

Combs was convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution but cleared of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. The case — and its outcome — has sent shockwaves across the entertainment world, sparking debate about power, accountability, and justice in the music industry.
