Drama unfolded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday when two adult sisters engaged in a heated fight after missing their scheduled NG Eagle flight. The altercation disrupted activities at the terminal and left one of the women unconscious.

According to eyewitnesses, the quarrel began shortly after the pair realized they had missed their departure. The argument, believed to have stemmed from one sister blaming the other for their lateness, quickly spiraled out of control. In the chaos, luggage and personal belongings were flung across the floor as both women exchanged blows.

Airport security officers rushed to the scene and separated the sisters, escorting them to the interrogation office. However, the confrontation reignited behind closed doors, leading to another violent clash during which one of the women fainted.

Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the incident in a post on his official X account.

“The strangest thing just happened at the Abuja airport. Two sisters, both adults, booked to travel via an NG Eagle flight. They missed the flight because they were late,” Achimugu wrote. “Perhaps one of them blamed her sibling for their missing flight, but the two siblings began to fight each other. They scattered luggage and other items before being dragged to the interrogation office by airport security.”

He explained that when one of the sisters lost consciousness, calls were made for an ambulance. However, the other insisted the issue was spiritual rather than medical and initially resisted hospital treatment.

The unconscious woman was later attended to at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) clinic within the airport premises. “Hopefully, she makes a recovery. This is not how things should be,” Achimugu added.

The unusual incident caused a brief stir among passengers and staff, drawing attention to rising cases of disorderly conduct in Nigerian airports.
