Former senator and media entrepreneur, Ben Murray-Bruce, has officially announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Tuesday, October 15, Murray-Bruce clarified that his decision was not motivated by partisan politics but by what he described as “a commitment to national progress.”

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold reforms and economic restructuring convinced him to align with the APC. Murray-Bruce, who represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019, praised the president’s “courage to take difficult decisions that will secure Nigeria’s future.”

“I have known Asiwaju since 1998,” Murray-Bruce said. “He has always been a man of conviction, not applause. Today, he is leading Nigeria with reforms that may be tough in the short term, but will anchor lasting prosperity.”

The media mogul highlighted Tinubu’s push for deregulation, professional central banking, foreign policy revival, and unprecedented infrastructure development as signs of what he called a “new dawn for Nigeria.”

He added:

“For the first time, we have a president who truly understands finance. Our economy is being repositioned to reward productivity and innovation. Yes, Nigerians are enduring sacrifices now, but it is the price of a better tomorrow.”

Murray-Bruce emphasized that his defection is rooted in belief, not ambition:

“This is not about politics. It is about progress. I am joining the APC because I believe in the vision of this administration and in the future it is building.”

The former lawmaker concluded with optimism, predicting that Nigeria will experience “phenomenal growth” if Tinubu’s reforms are sustained over an eight-year period.
