Tinubu Nominates Dr Bernard Doro as Minister - Arbiterz

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State as Nigeria’s new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, following the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda to National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The nomination was announced on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Doro’s name has been forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

According to presidency sources, the President made the decision after a private meeting with close aides on Monday evening, during which he discussed filling two vacant ministerial positions — including that of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, which became vacant after a recent resignation.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership across the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

Onanuga highlighted that Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA in IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. He also serves as an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), with hands-on experience in urgent care, GP practices, and hospital settings.

Beyond his medical and administrative expertise, Dr. Doro is widely known for his youth mentorship programs and community development projects, both in Nigeria and the diaspora.

If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will officially join President Tinubu’s cabinet and take his oath of office at an upcoming Federal Executive Council meeting.
