Lagos Ministry rescues well-dressed ?mentally unstable? woman who filed complaint against the sun

There was mild drama in Lagos on Monday when a well-dressed woman reportedly took an Uber ride to the Panti Police Station to lodge a formal complaint — against the sun.

According to eyewitnesses and officials, the unusual incident prompted swift intervention from the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development after a distress message about the woman’s condition circulated on social media.

The woman, who appeared mentally unstable but neatly dressed, reportedly arrived at the police station in a state of agitation, insisting that she needed to “report the sun” for “harassing” her. Concerned citizens alerted the Ministry when her behavior drew attention and disrupted activities at the station.

Upon receiving the alert, the Ministry’s Rescue Team was immediately dispatched to the scene. The team professionally handled the situation and safely transported the woman to a state-owned rehabilitation and mental health facility for medical and psychological evaluation.

In a statement released by the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, he praised the swift action of the rescue team and the concerned Lagosians who reported the case online.

“We appreciate members of the public who reached out through Instagram and other social channels. The Ministry’s Rescue Team responded promptly and ensured the woman received the immediate care she needed,” Ogunlende stated.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all Lagos residents, especially those battling mental health challenges.

“This case is a reminder that mental illness often hides behind appearances. As a government, we will continue to prioritize the mental health and safety of our citizens while encouraging the public to report such cases promptly,” he added.

Authorities confirmed that the woman is currently stable and undergoing further evaluation at a state rehabilitation center.

The incident has reignited public conversations around the growing mental health crisis in urban areas and the need for greater public awareness and compassion for individuals struggling with psychological distress.
