Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has taken legal action against actress and filmmaker Peggy Ovire, demanding a public apology and ₦100 million in damages over an alleged assault that occurred during a movie shoot earlier this month.
The petition, issued by Inibehe Effiong Chambers and dated November 18, 2025, details Arimoro’s claim that his fundamental rights were violated while working on the production. According to the letter, his contract officially ended at 11:59 p.m. on November 11, but efforts to leave the set were allegedly obstructed by members of the production team.
Arimoro stated that his car was deliberately prevented from exiting the location—first by the production manager blocking his vehicle, and then by another car positioned at the estate gate. Feeling unsafe and allegedly threatened, he began an Instagram Live broadcast to document the situation.
The confrontation reportedly escalated at the estate entrance, where Peggy Ovire and several others allegedly accosted him. The petition claims his vehicle tyres were deflated, and he was surrounded in what he described as an intimidating scene.
Arimoro alleged that he suffered physical assault during the altercation, listing injuries including a fractured mandible, bite marks, bruises, and tampering with his mobile phone. His legal team further argues that the incident resulted in emotional distress, a breach of personal liberty, and loss of income.
The actor is requesting two major remedies:
-
A public video apology from Peggy Ovire, to be shared across all her social media platforms.
-
Monetary compensation of ₦100 million for damages.
Peggy Ovire has been given seven days to respond to the demands. As of the time this report was filed, she has not issued any public comments regarding the allegations.
