Nigerian actor and activist Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has announced plans to pursue legal action against a user on X (formerly Twitter) who accused him of r@ping a minor and using the police to intimidate her family.
The unidentified X user, whom Mr Macaroni described as a staunch supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleged that the comedian sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl years ago and later deployed state powers to silence the victim’s relatives.
Reacting to the claims on his official X handle, Mr Macaroni strongly denied the allegations, calling them “horrendous,” “distasteful,” and politically motivated.
According to him, the accuser is part of a pattern of APC supporters who routinely fabricate stories and launch online attacks whenever he criticizes the government.
“Normally, I wouldn’t respond to a tweet like this because it gives it more visibility,” he wrote. “But because of the nature of this horrendous accusation, I must. This is a Tinubu and APC supporter. I am not new to their lies and attacks anytime I criticize their evil government.”
He emphasized that such a grave allegation should never be used as political propaganda and warned that allowing it to go unchallenged would encourage others to spread similar falsehoods.
Mr Macaroni said he reviewed the user’s profile and discovered a pattern of praising the government while attacking individuals who hold opposing views. He urged the public to provide any information that could assist in identifying the individual so that legal steps can be taken.
“This tweet also serves as an opportunity to strongly refute this ridiculous accusation and any other that may come from these infested supporters,” he added, reiterating that he would not stop speaking out against government failures.
Mr Macaroni has maintained that the accusations are entirely fabricated and says he is prepared to pursue all necessary legal remedies to address the situation.
