Kwara State has suffered yet another assault by armed bandits after a group of gunmen invaded Isapa, a community near Eruku in the Ekiti Local Government Area, kidnapping at least 11 residents, including a pregnant woman, nursing mothers, and several children.

The attack, which occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday, November 24, struck the community barely a day after victims abducted during a church service in nearby Ekuru were freed.

Gunmen Sweep Through Community

According to multiple community sources, between 20 and 30 armed bandits stormed Isapa, shooting indiscriminately to disperse residents as they advanced deeper into the settlement.

In the chaos, an elderly woman was reportedly struck by a stray bullet.

A leader within the community, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, described the incident as devastating.

“Eleven people were taken. Seven of them are from one family. Those kidnapped include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers and several little children,” the source said.

Victims Identified

Among those abducted are:

  • Talatu Kabiru, 20

  • Magaji, 6

  • Kande, 5

  • Hadiza, 10

  • Mariam, 6

  • Saima, 5

  • Habibat, housewife

  • Fatima Yusufu, housewife

  • Sarah Sunday, 22, pregnant

  • Lami Fidelis, 23, nursing mother

  • Haja Na Allah, nursing mother

Eyewitnesses said the attackers moved house to house, leaving walls and doors riddled with bullet holes. After the attack, residents found expended AK-47 shells scattered across several points in the community.

Tension Mounts as Search Operations Begin

The latest abduction has deepened fear across Isapa and neighbouring towns. Security operatives and local vigilante teams are said to be combing routes believed to have been used by the bandits in hopes of locating the victims.

Residents are appealing for urgent reinforcement, fearing that the repeated attacks signal a widening security breakdown in the area.
