The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert on the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles following the discovery of undeclared allergens in the product.
In a statement released on Thursday, December 19, the agency disclosed that tests revealed the presence of milk and eggs, allergens that were not listed on the product’s label. According to NAFDAC, this omission could pose serious health risks to individuals who are allergic or intolerant to these substances.
NAFDAC explained that the recall notice originated from Rappel Conso, France’s consumer safety authority, which flagged the affected Indomie product. Although Nigeria currently enforces a ban on the importation of noodles—making the official entry of the product into the country unlikely—the agency stressed that illegal importation, online purchases, or personal travel could still lead to its circulation within Nigeria.
To address this risk, NAFDAC said it has intensified surveillance and monitoring efforts to prevent the recalled product from entering the Nigerian market.
The agency urged distributors, retailers, and consumers to remain vigilant and ensure that the affected foreign Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles are neither sold nor consumed.
Consumers who come across the product are advised to discard it immediately and report any sightings or suspected sales to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the agency’s toll-free line: 0800-162-3322.
NAFDAC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and called on the public to cooperate by promptly reporting any violations.
