The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has married Queen Zaynab Otiti-Obanor, formerly known as Olori Wuraola and once married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
Confirmation of the union came from a member of the Dajoh family in Benue State, Abraham Double-D Dajoh, who shared the news on social media, describing the marriage as a joyful and historic moment for the family.
In his post, Dajoh warmly welcomed Queen Zaynab into the Dajoh family, celebrating her new role and expressing gratitude to supporters of Senator Akume for their continued goodwill.
“We, the entire Dajoh family, joyfully welcome our father, uncle, and brother, His Excellency Senator George Akume, and his wife, Queen Zaynab, into this new chapter of life,” the statement read in part. It also extended a formal welcome to Benue State and Mbakor, regarded as a key traditional seat of the Tiv people.
Marriage Not Recent, Aide Clarifies
Speaking on the development, Akume’s media aide, Yomi Odunuga, confirmed the marriage but clarified that it did not take place recently, contrary to speculation circulating online.
According to him, the marriage is over a year old and was not formalised during a Christmas Eve event in Gboko, where the couple were recently seen together.
“I can confirm the marriage. However, it did not take place during the Christmas celebrations as being speculated. The union was formalised more than a year ago,” Odunuga stated.
Background on Queen Zaynab
Queen Zaynab, formerly Olori Wuraola, has been married multiple times. Her marriage to the Ooni of Ife, which was her third, lasted for about 17 months before it ended.
The marriage has since drawn public attention, given the stature of both individuals and their prominent roles in Nigeria’s political and traditional landscapes.
