The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that there will be no reversal of the political decision already taken regarding Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the statement on Wednesday during a thank-you visit to Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he addressed party supporters and community leaders.
“Our Decision Is Final”
According to the former Rivers State governor, the political strategy adopted for the state is aimed at returning power to the people and ensuring support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election for a second term.
“We are prepared. We have made a decision and we are not going back,” Wike said.
“No amount of money will change our course. We have done it before and we will do it again.”
He urged his supporters to remain resolute, insisting that intimidation would not derail the plan.
“Nobody will intimidate us. I want you to be strong,” he added.
Criticism of Current State Leadership
Wike accused those currently entrusted with leadership in Rivers State of being misled by money and power, warning that greed and ingratitude often result in political downfall.
He maintained that his presence in Eleme was to appreciate the people for their loyalty and support, particularly during the 2023 elections.
“I have not taken your support for granted,” he said. “Despite all the challenges, President Tinubu appointed me— a South-South person — as Minister of the FCT. That has never happened before.”
Praise for Tinubu, Development Claims
The FCT minister also credited President Tinubu for ongoing development projects, saying the level of infrastructural progress currently being witnessed would not have been possible without the president’s leadership.
“Development like what we are seeing today did not happen until Tinubu happened,” he said.
Local Leaders Pledge Support
Earlier, Chief Aforji Igwe, who represents Eleme in the Rivers State House of Assembly, described Wike as a fair, just, and principled leader, pledging continued support for him.
Similarly, Eleme Council Chairman, Chief Obarilormate Ollor, praised Wike for infrastructural interventions carried out in the area during his tenure as governor.
Ollor assured the minister of Eleme people’s loyalty, stating that the community was already aligned with Wike’s directive to support Tinubu’s re-election, while awaiting further guidance on the Rivers governorship race in 2027.
