Popular entrepreneur and nightlife mogul Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has been appointed South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, following a personal visit from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The appointment was delivered during a late-night visit on Monday, when Seyi Tinubu met with Obi Cubana at his residence to formally present the letter. The development was later confirmed by the Anambra-born businessman through a post shared on his verified Instagram page.
According to Obi Cubana, the meeting went beyond the presentation of the appointment, as both men engaged in extensive discussions on national issues and matters of mutual interest.
“My brother and long-time friend, Seyi Tinubu, stopped by last night. We had meaningful conversations on a wide range of issues,” he wrote.
Reacting to the diverse public opinions that followed the announcement, Obi Cubana said he was unfazed by the criticism, stressing that progress can only be achieved through involvement and dialogue rather than distance.
He explained that accepting the role does not conflict with his values, adding that his commitment to integrity, community empowerment, and responsible leadership remains unchanged.
“I understand the reactions this decision has generated, but my conviction is clear—real influence is built from within. I stand firmly by this path,” he stated.
Obi Cubana also described President Tinubu as a man deeply rooted in enterprise and urban development, noting that his new responsibility would be carried out with a strong emphasis on inclusivity.
He assured Nigerians that his engagement with the City Boy Movement would reflect unity and shared national purpose, regardless of political or personal differences.
Calling for mutual respect in public discourse, the businessman encouraged Nigerians to channel their energy toward productive engagement and value creation.
“Different opinions are healthy. Let’s keep the conversation alive, stay focused, and build something meaningful together,” he added.
Obi Cubana expressed gratitude to supporters and well-wishers while reaffirming his commitment to contributing positively to national development in his new role.
