Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved automatic employment for nine former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who recently distinguished themselves by winning the Presidential Honour Award.
The governor made the announcement on Wednesday when he hosted six of the honorees at Government House, Umuahia, alongside the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Adama.
Employment Slots Opened for Awardees
Governor Otti instructed the State Head of Service to fast-track their documentation and issue appointment letters, noting that the awardees could assume their new roles immediately.
“On behalf of the government and people of Abia, I am lifting the employment embargo specifically for the nine of you. This is in recognition of your outstanding contributions during your service year,” the governor said. He encouraged them to see their new roles as a call to greater service and responsibility.
Honorees Express Gratitude
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nwogu Chinonso from Obingwa Local Government Area thanked Governor Otti for the opportunity, describing him as a leader committed to rewarding excellence. “We assure you that we will give our best to justify this trust and contribute positively to the growth of Abia State,” he pledged.
NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Adama, also commended the governor’s gesture, noting that the nine awardees were selected from over 100 nominees nationwide. She highlighted that most of them had served outside their home region, further underscoring their dedication and resilience.
