Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has firmly dismissed claims suggesting he has abandoned his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a bold declaration, the former Rivers State governor confirmed his interest in pursuing the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking through his media team, Amaechi described the rumors of his withdrawal as “false, misleading, and politically motivated.” He emphasized that he remains committed to his long-standing vision of building a united and prosperous Nigeria, while assuring his supporters that his journey to the presidency is far from over.

“I have no plans to forfeit my presidential ambition. My decision to align with the ADC is deliberate, and it reflects my commitment to offering Nigerians an alternative leadership that prioritizes accountability, development, and national unity,” Amaechi stated.

The former APC chieftain’s move to the ADC signals a significant shift in the build-up to the 2027 elections, potentially reshaping the political dynamics as parties begin to position themselves. Already, reactions have trailed his announcement, with supporters hailing it as a courageous step and political analysts noting that his influence and experience could boost the ADC’s standing on the national stage.

Amaechi’s declaration underscores his determination to remain a key player in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense race in the coming months.
