Fusengbuwa Ruling House Rejects KWAM 1's Royal Lineage Claim, Declares Awujale Bid Invalid The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has formally rejected the lineage claim of Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has dismissed Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM1) from the ongoing Awujale succession process, declaring that his submitted lineage documents carry no legitimacy.

In a letter dated December 11, 2025, the ruling house informed the musician that a thorough genealogical review did not link him to the Jadiara Royal House or the wider Fusengbuwa dynasty—whose turn it is to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

The letter, signed by the ruling house chairman, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, stated that the form submitted by the artiste was endorsed by an individual who is not recognised as a member or leader of the Jadiara lineage. According to the family, the certifying signatory, Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, lacks the authority to validate royal ancestry documents.

The ruling house also highlighted inconsistencies in the paperwork, pointing out that the document was endorsed on December 8—two days before KWAM1 signed his own section—describing the form as improperly “pre-signed.”

Ruling House Rejects Ancestry Claim

“Our independent findings show no evidence connecting you to the Jadiara Royal House or the Fusengbuwa Ruling House,” the statement said.

The family stressed that Oduneye has “no locus standi” to certify any genealogical documents on behalf of the royal lineage.

Consequently, the ruling house declared the entire submission void and unacceptable, insisting that KWAM1’s claim to their ancestry “cannot stand.”

Tensions Heighten as Awujale Succession Continues

The new development adds to the rising tension over the selection of a successor to Oba Sikiru Adetona, who passed in July after a historic 65-year reign.

Earlier in the day, elders from the ruling house publicly distanced themselves from the musician’s claim, insisting that neither he nor his late father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe, belongs to their bloodline.

KWAM1, traditionally associated with the Fidipote Ruling House, had stunned many when he submitted his form days after the official deadline, claiming descent from the Setejoye family unit of the Jadiara lineage. His application was later counter-signed by Oduneye—whose involvement has now been rejected by recognised royal branches.

Multiple family heads, including those of the Jadiara and Bubiade units, have since reaffirmed that they have no genealogical ties to the musician.

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House convened an emergency meeting on Thursday to formally assess the controversial submission, ultimately ruling it invalid.
