UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has announced a sweeping new immigration policy she calls the “Radical Borders Plan,” promising to deport 150,000 illegal migrants from Britain each year. In a video message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Badenoch described the initiative as the “toughest reforms Britain has ever seen” on immigration.

At the heart of the plan is the creation of a new Removals Force, modelled on the United States’ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which will be tasked with overhauling the UK’s border enforcement system. “If you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported,” she said, pledging to restore public trust in Britain’s borders.

Badenoch has long been a vocal critic of successive governments’ handling of migration. In unveiling her proposal, she accused both Conservative and Labour administrations of weakness on the issue, citing record numbers of small boat crossings and spiralling asylum costs.

Under the Radical Borders Plan, asylum claims from illegal entrants would be banned, the Human Rights Act repealed, and the UK would withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Badenoch also vowed to deport illegal arrivals within a week, remove legal barriers to mass removals, and impose visa sanctions on countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens.

She added that the reforms would “shut down the asylum hotel racket,” save taxpayers billions of pounds, and deliver the “serious, credible plan” Britain needs to secure its borders. “Only the Conservatives can deliver this,” she concluded.
