A wave of fear and grief has gripped warake, Auchi, Edo State after unknown gunmen killed a local vulcaniser and abducted a family of three on May 2nd, 2025 around 4 pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants stormed the area opening fire and causing panic among residents. The vulcaniser, identified as Boyo, was shot dead at his workshop. “It happened so fast — the gunman didn’t say a word. He just opened fire and fled. Chaos broke out instantly,” the trader recounted.
The attacker then proceeded to a nearby residence where they abducted a man, his wife, and their teenage child. The victims were reportedly taken to an unknown destination, and no demand for ransom has been made as of the time of this report.
Local security forces have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, while community leaders have called for calm and urged authorities to step up efforts to ensure the safety of residents.
“This is devastating. We’ve never seen anything like this. Everyone is scared,” said one resident who requested anonymity.
The police have confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
