In a major shift for entertainment television, E! News, the iconic pop culture news program, has officially been canceled after more than 30 years on air. The decision marks the end of a historic era for the show that helped define celebrity journalism and brought red carpet glamour and Hollywood headlines into living rooms around the world.

Launched in 1991, E! News quickly became a staple in entertainment media, known for its fast-paced coverage of celebrity gossip, fashion, movie premieres, award shows, and exclusive interviews. The show served as a launchpad for numerous on-air personalities and cemented the E! network’s place in the entertainment landscape.

Over the years, E! News featured a rotating roster of influential hosts including Giuliana Rancic, Ryan Seacrest, Terrence J, Jason Kennedy, Catt Sadler, and Maria Menounos, many of whom became stars in their own right. Its red carpet pre-shows and insider scoops made it a must-watch for fans eager to stay up to date on the lives of Hollywood’s biggest names.

In recent years, however, the show struggled to keep pace with the rapidly changing media environment. The rise of social media platforms, influencer-driven news cycles, and round-the-clock celebrity updates from online outlets diminished the exclusive appeal E! News once held. The COVID-19 pandemic also led to production halts and format changes, including a brief cancellation in 2020 and later revamps that failed to regain its former momentum.

In a statement, NBCUniversal, the parent company of E!, said the decision to end the program was part of a broader restructuring strategy across its networks.

“We are incredibly proud of the legacy of ‘E! News’ and the cultural impact it has had over the past three decades. This move reflects the evolving ways audiences consume entertainment news today.”

Fans and entertainment insiders alike have taken to social media to share their nostalgia and appreciation for the program. Many praised the show for its trailblazing coverage of pop culture and its role in making celebrity journalism mainstream.

Despite the cancellation, E! will continue to produce other entertainment programming, including red carpet specials, reality shows, and digital content.

The end of E! News closes a significant chapter in entertainment media—one that blended celebrity, fashion, and breaking news with unmatched style for over three decades.
