EFCC operatives restrict access to Malami?s Abuja Residence

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday restricted access to the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in a move that heightened security presence within the upscale Maitama district.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that EFCC officials arrived in several vehicles and strategically positioned themselves along Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street, effectively cordoning off the area and limiting movement in and out of the street.

Residents and visitors reportedly faced difficulty accessing the neighbourhood as operatives, clad in branded EFCC jackets, mounted surveillance at key entry points.

As of the time of the development, the anti-graft agency had yet to release an official statement explaining the purpose of the operation, leaving uncertainty surrounding the action.

Malami, however, is currently facing legal battles over allegations of financial misconduct. He, alongside his wife, Bashir Asabe, and son, Abdulaziz, has been charged with multiple counts related to alleged money laundering.

The former minister has denied all allegations, insisting that the charges are politically motivated and describing the case against him as a targeted campaign.
