Eko, Ikeja Electricity DisCos Warn of Extended Power Shedding Due to TCN Maintenance
Electricity consumers in Lagos and parts of Ogun State are bracing for prolonged power outages as Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric (IE) have announced a three-week load-shedding schedule. The disruptions come as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) begins critical maintenance work on its infrastructure.
In separate public notices issued on Friday, both DisCos revealed that the power rationing is necessary due to planned maintenance on key transmission lines and substations being carried out by TCN, which is expected to last from July 27 to August 17, 2025.
The DisCos explained that during this period, the TCN will be working on the upgrade and replacement of aging components at the Ikeja West, Oshogbo, and Alagbon transmission stations—facilities crucial to the bulk supply of power to the Lagos metropolis and adjoining areas.
According to Eko DisCo, affected areas under its network include:
-
Lekki Phase I & II
-
Victoria Island
-
Ikoyi
-
Ajah
-
Festac Town
-
Surulere
-
Orile
-

Meanwhile, Ikeja Electric disclosed that the following areas would experience reduced power supply during the maintenance window:
