Residents of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates were thrown into anxiety after emergency alerts were sent to mobile phones warning of possible missile threats amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
The urgent notifications advised people across the city to seek immediate shelter and remain indoors while authorities monitored the developing security situation. The alerts were triggered as Iran launched what analysts describe as one of its most aggressive waves of missile attacks in the region.
Drone Interceptions and Falling Debris
Reports from residents indicate that several drones were intercepted over Dubai’s airspace, with fragments and debris falling near well-known landmarks such as the Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah.
Authorities said small fires sparked by the falling debris were quickly brought under control, preventing further damage.
Residents Describe Fear and Uncertainty
A British expatriate identified as Martyn described the tense atmosphere after receiving multiple alerts on his phone.
According to him, residents had already received several warnings in the previous hours.
“We received two alerts just now and another two last night. It’s a very tense situation and difficult to understand what’s really happening from here,” he said.
Martyn explained that many residents initially assumed the missiles would pass over the city without incident, but the uncertainty has left people feeling uneasy.
“Being here on the ground is nerve-wracking. Many people think the missiles will just pass, but it’s safer to find shelter because you never know what could happen,” he added.
Wider Impact Across the UAE
The alerts appear to have affected multiple locations across the UAE. Residents in Abu Dhabi also reported hearing interceptions as air defence systems engaged incoming projectiles.
Martyn said a friend in the capital described numerous interceptions within a short period.
“My friend in Abu Dhabi said there were about fifteen intercepts recently. It feels like these strikes are meant to create disruption and fear,” he said.
Escalation After Khamenei’s Death
The latest tensions come amid escalating conflict following the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during a military campaign referred to as Operation Epic Fury.
Since then, retaliatory strikes and heightened military activity across the region have raised fears of a broader conflict involving multiple Middle Eastern countries.
Security officials in the UAE have urged residents to remain calm, follow official instructions, and rely only on verified updates as authorities continue monitoring the situation.
