The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, who extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful across the nation and urged them to use the occasion to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of peace, love, humility, and tolerance.
The Minister further emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians, regardless of religious or cultural differences, noting that these values remain vital for national development and stability.
He called on citizens to pray for the progress of the country, support the government’s efforts toward growth, and continue to uphold discipline and harmony in their communities.
Eid-ul-Mawlid is celebrated annually by Muslims worldwide to honor the birth and life of Prophet Muhammad, regarded as a model of compassion, justice, and piety.
