Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday, melted hearts in Osogbo after he turned an ordinary puff-puff seller into a soon-to-be Government House chef.
The governor, who was attending a massive solidarity rally organized by public servants in appreciation of his administration, spotted the roadside vendor and called her over. In a viral video, Adeleke, seated inside his vehicle, asked how much it would cost to buy all the snacks she had. Moments later, he handed her ₦50,000 in cash—far above the value of her goods—drawing loud cheers from the crowd. Excited residents quickly shared the snacks from the container already paid for by the governor.
What appeared to be a simple gesture soon turned into a life-changing moment. After engaging the woman in conversation, Adeleke learned she held a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) and could cook a variety of dishes. Impressed, the governor directed his aides to take her details, offering her employment as a chef at the Government House.
The touching encounter was confirmed by Olaniyan Taofeek, Commissioner II at the Osun State Civil Service Commission, who posted the video on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption: “The moment Gov. Adeleke turned the life of a puff-puff seller into a Government House chef.”
Oni Gbenga Lawrence, Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Media, also shared the story online, writing: “Moment Governor Ademola Adeleke turned the life of a puff-puff seller to Government Chef… not only ₦50k but he invited her into his car and employed her as chef in the Government House.”
