Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly installed supreme leader of Iran, has issued his first public message since assuming leadership, sharing the deep personal losses he suffered during the recent war and pledging that the country will respond to those responsible.
The statement, delivered through a broadcast on Iranian state television, focused on unity, resilience, and the need for the nation to stand together after weeks of violence and destruction.
A Leader Sharing the Nation’s Pain
In his message, Khamenei revealed that the conflict had devastated his own family. He confirmed that his father, former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, was among those killed during the attacks.
He also disclosed that his wife lost her life in the violence, while his sister was left grieving after losing both her husband and her child.
Khamenei said these personal tragedies have placed him in the same position as many Iranian families who are mourning loved ones.
Appeal for National Unity
The new leader urged citizens across the country to remain united despite the suffering caused by the war. According to him, only solidarity among the people will allow Iran to overcome the challenges facing the nation.
He praised the courage and determination of ordinary Iranians who, he said, stood firm during the conflict regardless of their backgrounds or social status.
Faith and Patience in Difficult Times
Khamenei stressed that faith and patience are essential for enduring hardship. He said trust in God would help the nation overcome the pain and loss experienced in recent weeks.
Promise to Honour the Fallen
While calling for unity, the Iranian leader also made it clear that the deaths caused by the conflict would not be forgotten. He vowed that those killed in the war would be remembered and that their sacrifice would not go unanswered.
According to him, the issue is not only about the loss of the former supreme leader but about every Iranian citizen who died during the conflict.
His remarks suggest that Iran’s leadership intends to pursue a response to the attacks while also rallying the population around a message of resilience and national solidarity.
