Leadway Assurance has formed a strategic bancassurance alliance with Ecobank Nigeria Limited to offer customized insurance products directly to the bank’s customers across the nation.
This collaboration will embed Leadway’s portfolio of life, health, motor, and home insurance products into Ecobank’s vast branch network, enabling easier access for the bank’s employees, customers, and small business clients.
Through this partnership, Ecobank clients can conveniently purchase insurance policies at various banking locations. Selected branches will feature trained insurance specialists to assist customers in choosing from options like group life insurance, personal accident coverage, and term life plans.
The initiative aims to increase insurance uptake by integrating protection products into routine banking services, leveraging Ecobank’s more than 250 branches, 50,000 agency banking outlets, and numerous digital platforms.
Commenting on the collaboration, Kikelomo Fischer, Leadway’s Director of Sales, Retail, and Partnerships, emphasized the goal of simplifying access to insurance.
“Partnering with Ecobank allows us to bring essential financial protection closer to individuals, exactly where and when they need it. This partnership is a deliberate effort to close Nigeria’s insurance coverage gap,” she explained.
Adeola Ogunyemi, Head of Distribution Channels and Sales for Consumer and Commercial Banking at Ecobank, described the partnership as a significant step toward building a comprehensive financial services hub.
“Our clients can now conveniently access insurance products tailored to their needs alongside their everyday banking services,” Ogunyemi said.
The partnership will also include an insurance education campaign using Ecobank’s branches, employee forums, mobile channels, and direct customer engagement to boost awareness and encourage greater insurance adoption.
