Anthony Joshua?s friends? funeral to hold in London mosque on Sunday

Funeral prayers will be held in London this Sunday for two close associates of heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Nigeria late last year.

The Islamic prayer service for Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif Kevin Ayodele is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the London Central Mosque in Regent’s Park, with proceedings set to begin at 10:00am.

Both men’s remains have since been returned to the United Kingdom following the fatal crash.

Tragic Accident in Nigeria

Ghami and Ayodele were travelling in the same vehicle as Joshua on December 29, 2025, when their Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. While Joshua sustained only minor injuries, the two men—integral members of his inner circle—died at the scene.

Sina Ghami served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, while Abdul Latif Ayodele, popularly known as “Latz,” was his personal trainer and long-time confidant.

Boxing Community Mourns

The funeral announcement was made public on Saturday by Boxing King Media, which expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and acknowledged the profound loss felt within the boxing world.

The London service is expected to draw family members, friends, colleagues, and members of the global boxing community who wish to honour the lives and contributions of the two men.

Their deaths have cast a sombre shadow over the sport, underscoring the deep personal loss behind the public career of one of boxing’s most recognisable figures.
