Several of Apple’s most widely used services went offline on Wednesday afternoon, disrupting music streaming, video viewing, app management and developer tools for millions of users worldwide.
According to Apple’s system status dashboard, Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple TV Channels were among the services affected, with outages beginning around 3 p.m. ET.
Apple Music, which has more than 40 million users globally — including an estimated 20.8 million subscribers in the U.S. — was one of the hardest-hit platforms. Apple TV, used by over 39 million Americans, also suffered disruptions.
App Store, App Store Connect and TestFlight Hit by Glitches
Downdetector, a platform that tracks service interruptions, recorded spikes in complaints regarding the App Store. Apple’s dashboard, however, continued to list the store as operational.
Developers were particularly affected, with Apple users on X reporting outages on:
-
App Store Connect, the portal used to manage apps
-
TestFlight, the tool that allows developers to distribute beta versions of their apps
Apple acknowledged the disruptions with an advisory stating:
“Some users are affected. Users may be experiencing intermittent issues with this service.”
App Store Connect and TestFlight serve millions of developers who create and manage apps across Apple’s ecosystem of more than 2.35 billion active devices. TestFlight alone allows up to 10,000 external testers per app, making even short outages widely felt.
Game Center Briefly Down Earlier in the Day
Apple confirmed that Game Center also experienced an outage earlier on Wednesday, though the issue was resolved within about 30 minutes.
Users Vent Frustration Online
The disruptions sparked frustration across social media.
One user wrote: “Music should never be down.”
Another developer complained about the conflicting system reports, saying:
“App Store Connect not in good shape, even though it’s all green on the dashboard.”
