The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced a large-scale review of the results from the 379,000 candidates who sat for the recently conducted UTME resit examinations. This unprecedented move comes amid concerns raised by candidates and stakeholders over irregularities and inconsistencies in the initial release of the resit results.

According to JAMB officials, the review aims to ensure accuracy, fairness, and transparency in the examination process. The board has assured candidates and the public that every necessary measure will be taken to correct any discrepancies and uphold the integrity of the UTME, which serves as the gateway to tertiary education in Nigeria.

The UTME resit exams were organized for candidates who wished to improve their scores or missed the initial examination. However, following the release of results, numerous candidates reported anomalies including unexpected score reductions and errors in their individual results.

JAMB’s Registrar emphasized that the review process is a thorough reassessment of all resit papers and scores to identify and rectify any technical or administrative errors. The board is committed to providing a credible and equitable platform for all candidates, acknowledging the critical role the UTME plays in shaping the educational futures of millions.

While the review is ongoing, JAMB has advised candidates to remain patient and avoid speculation. The board is expected to release updated results shortly after the completion of the review, with clear communication to ensure transparency.

Educational experts have welcomed the decision, noting that such reviews are essential to maintain trust in the examination system. They urged candidates to focus on preparing for their next academic steps while awaiting the revised results.

As JAMB continues its rigorous reassessment, all eyes remain on the board to deliver a fair resolution that will reinforce confidence in Nigeria’s national examination standards.
