Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba, has given the Lagos State Attorney General, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), a 14-day deadline to prosecute individuals indicted in his son’s death.

In a petition dated October 3, 2025 and signed by his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), Aloba urged the state to promptly charge Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba; auxiliary nurse Ogedengbe Fisayo; Prime Boy; and others named in the coroner’s inquest, warning that continued delay threatens justice.

The demand comes nearly three months after Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court delivered the coroner’s verdict, which highlighted negligence and complicity surrounding the singer’s death. According to the findings, Nurse Fisayo unlawfully administered tetanus, paracetamol and ceftriaxone injections on Mohbad without any medical diagnosis — an act described as reckless and unprofessional.

The inquest also faulted Omowunmi for negligence, stating that as Mohbad’s closest companion she failed to call emergency services or ensure proper hospital treatment. Prime Boy and others present when the singer was in distress were equally criticised for not taking him to hospital immediately.

Shittu noted that despite these clear indictments since July, no one has yet been prosecuted. He cautioned that if the state fails to act within the 14-day window, Aloba’s legal team will seek authorisation to initiate prosecution on behalf of the state under Lagos’ criminal justice laws.

Aloba stressed that Mohbad’s death remains a matter of widespread public concern and vowed to pursue justice until all those indicted are held accountable.
