Tragedy struck on Sunday when a vehicle carrying students from a seminary was involved in a fatal crash near the popular Obudu Ranch Resort, resulting in the deaths of four seminarians and injuries to nine others.

The victims, all students of a Catholic seminary in the region, were reportedly on a group outing when their bus veered off the road and overturned along the winding hills leading to the ranch. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle appeared to lose control on one of the sharp bends notorious for accidents in the area.

Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene to assist in the rescue effort. The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Authorities have yet to release the names of the deceased pending notification of their families.

The seminary community and the Catholic Diocese have expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the accident as a devastating blow to the church and the young men’s families.

Local officials have since launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, with preliminary reports suggesting possible brake failure or over-speeding on the steep terrain.

Calls have intensified for the state government to improve road safety measures around the Obudu Ranch area, a location frequented by tourists and pilgrims alike.

Funeral arrangements for the deceased are expected to be announced in the coming days.
