The world of rock and heavy metal is in mourning as legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76, just weeks after what would be his final farewell performance. The iconic frontman of Black Sabbath and successful solo artist passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, according to a statement released by his representatives.
Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England, Ozzy rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential and controversial figures in music history. Known as the “Prince of Darkness,” his deep, haunting voice and electrifying stage presence helped shape the sound and spirit of heavy metal in the 1970s and beyond. As the lead vocalist of Black Sabbath, Ozzy was a driving force behind hits like “Paranoid,” “Iron Man,” and “War Pigs,” songs that became anthems for generations of rock lovers.
Following his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979, Ozzy launched a solo career that was equally as explosive. Albums like “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman” cemented his legacy and introduced fans to classics like “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley.” Despite numerous controversies and battles with substance abuse, Ozzy remained a beloved and resilient figure, admired for his authenticity and refusal to conform.
