Nigerian singer Asa, born Bukola Elemide, has announced the passing of her mother following a battle with a brain tumour.

The music star shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram page on Tuesday, revealing that the illness came unexpectedly and led to her mother’s sudden death.

In an emotional tribute, Asa described her late mother as a source of strength, love, and inspiration in her life. She highlighted her mother’s kindness, humility, and unique sense of humour, noting that she remained one of her biggest supporters throughout her career.

Reflecting on their bond, the singer recalled how her mother, despite not being musically inclined, would joyfully sing along to all her songs with deep affection and pride.

Asa expressed gratitude for the impact her mother had on her life, saying her love and spirit would continue to live on through her.
