Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has completed a loan move to Werder Bremen for the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, leaving Bayer Leverkusen after helping the club to their historic title-winning campaign.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Bremen will cover part of Boniface’s wages as part of the loan deal. The Nigerian forward is expected to add much-needed depth and attacking power to Bremen’s frontline.
Speaking after the deal was confirmed, Boniface expressed his excitement at the new challenge:
“The discussions with the management convinced me to come to Werder Bremen. I want to help the team with my performances so we can achieve our targets this season. I’m really looking forward to working with my teammates and experiencing my time at Bremen.”
Bremen’s head coach, Horst Steffen, welcomed the striker with high expectations, describing him as a complete forward:
“Victor is physically strong, quick, and has an excellent eye for goal. He proved himself both as a scorer and creator during Leverkusen’s championship run. I’m confident he will be a key player for us this season.”
Echoing his coach’s sentiments, Peter Niemeyer, the club’s Head of Professional Football, praised the signing as a major boost:
“We are delighted to bring Victor in on loan. His performances in the Bundesliga speak for themselves, and we believe he can continue that success here at Werder Bremen.”
The move signals a new chapter for Boniface, who will be eager to replicate his Leverkusen heroics and inspire Werder Bremen to a strong showing in the upcoming campaign.
